Shortly after Johannes (Lasse Rimmer) moves from Copenhagen back to his economically depressed rural hometown, his tosspot brother (Jens Andersen) accidentally kills a local girl and pins the blame on a Bosnian immigrant named Alain (Bojan Navojec). But when the well-meaning Johannes defends Alain, he deeply offends his xenophobic neighbors, hurling his family into a nightmarish existence in Danish director Ole Bornedal's pensive thriller.
