After finding out that an old friend (Jennifer Beals) has been having an affair with her husband, Laurel (Helene Joy) reacts emotionally and, in a heated scuffle, inadvertently causes the woman to fall to her death. Working together, Laurel and an ex-con she's befriended (Lothaire Bluteau) cover the crime, but one man (Ed Begley Jr.) isn't fooled. Meanwhile, Laurel begins to assume an eerie resemblance to the dead woman who betrayed her.
