Helmed by Delmer Daves, this suspenseful World War II adventure centers on an American submarine crew -- led by Capt. Cassidy (Cary Grant) -- sent to infiltrate enemy waters to gather intelligence for the first Allied bombing of Tokyo. Featuring a crackling, Oscar-nominated script and a first-rate performance by Grant, the film also stars John Garfield, Dane Clark and John Forsythe (in his big-screen debut).
