When he moves from the Japanese countryside to Tokyo, musician Soichi Negishi (Ken'ichi Matsuyama) dreams of singing pop-style love ballads. Instead, he soon becomes the frontman for Detroit Metal City, a hard-driving death metal group. As the band rises to fame, Negishi hides his identity from attractive journalist Yuri Aikawa (Rosa Kato), his former college classmate. KISS's Gene Simmons co-stars in this film based on a popular Japanese comic book.
