Die Fledermaus (Royal Opera)

  (1984)
Soprano Kiri Te Kanawa and baritone Hermann Prey ring in 1984 with this New Year's presentation of Johann Strauss's lighthearted opera from London's Covent Garden. Te Kanawa is Rosalinde, wooed by an admirer as her husband, Gabriel von Eisenstein, is about to be imprisoned. But before he goes, a champagne-drenched ball and mistaken identity result in a comedy of errors. Charles Aznavour makes a cameo appearance and Plácido Domingo directs.
