With Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) departing to star in the "Diff'rent Strokes" spinoff "The Facts of Life," Mr. Drummond (Conrad Bain) is left to care for Willis (Todd Bridges) and Arnold (Gary Coleman) without benefit of hired help. In the show's second season, Arnold comes face to face with his idol, boxing great Muhammad Ali; gets a life-threatening bite from a dog; and confronts racism after winning the heart of a white girl.
