Charles Wilcox III (Justin Ridgeway), a religious studies graduate student with a secret connection to the Nephilim -- the fabled descendants of angels -- begins to sink into madness when a mysterious foundation offers him a grant to study the legendary creatures. Wilcox finds himself increasingly isolated from his friends and family as he delves deeper into his research, until he receives a supernatural warning from his dead father.
