When his father dies, Navendru (Rajesh Khanna) must look after his stepmother and stepbrothers -- a task that proves difficult as each, in turn, exerts a will of his or her own in this sudsy Indian musical drama. Even after Navendru convinces his mother to accept his brother's modern bride, the couple turn their back on Navendru when he comes to them for a loan. Meanwhile, his other brother has fallen in love with his sister-in-law's sister.
