The tug-of-war between the warring planets of Zeos and Atrios provides the backdrop for an end to the "Key to Time" landmark series of episodes (landmark because, for the first time, Doctor Who carries a single mission throughout six distinct stories). Ripping a page from Spock's playbook in Star Trek II ("The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one"), the doctor must choose between the life of Princess Astra and time itself.
