Doctor Who: The Stones of Blood

The third installment of the "Key to Time" series brings the Doctor and Romana to Earth at an ancient stone circle -- the Nine Travelers. During their investigation, they uncover a spaceship trapped in hyperspace hovering over the circle. It seems the stones themselves are silicon-based organisms that need globulin to live -- hence the blood sacrifice involving the spaceship's crew.
