Don't Talk to Strange Men

  (1962)
In this tense, disturbing crime thriller, young Jean Painter (Christina Gregg) strikes up a bizarre over-the-phone relationship with a man who may or may not be a psychopath killer with intentions to make her his next victim. As much a warning to impressionable and vulnerable youth as a frightening genre exercise, this is a minor masterpiece of low-key terror, with subtly mounting dread in place of explicit violence or bloodshed.
