As the leader of a Latina gang in South Central Los Angeles, Rascal (Jessica Romero) must contend with an escalating war against a rival African-American gang while a persistent teacher (Danny Glover) urges her to pursue her writing talents at an upcoming writer's workshop. The visceral drama, which unfolds over a single day, also features a winning turn by Kate del Castillo as Rascal's doting mother.
