Former suburban cop Alex Kearney (Anthony Edwards) -- a newcomer to a tough Philadelphia precinct -- is greener than currency, but what he lacks in experience he more than makes up for in zeal. That doesn't always sit well, however, with his veteran partner, Dennis Curren (Forest Whitaker). When Kearney's ex-partner turns up dead, the straightlaced gumshoe finds he has much to learn from the street-wise Curren about cracking the case.
