Shirley MacLaine stars in this quirky comedy that also marks her directorial debut, the story of an unusually gifted boy named Bruno (Alex D. Linz) with a knack for spelling and a penchant for wearing dresses. As Bruno struggles to find acceptance from the kids at his Catholic school, he seeks the same approval from his father (Gary Sinise), who doesn't approve of his son's choices -- or the way his overweight mother (Stacey Halprin) is raising him.
