As the 13th season of this award-winning medical drama opens, the ER at Chicago's County Hospital is struggling to get back to normal after the shooting spree that came at the end of the previous season. Forest Whitaker begins a recurring role as a stroke victim who's suing Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic); Dr. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) gets a new lady friend; and Busy Philipps joins the cast as an intern whose on-the-job training isn't going so well.
