Nicolas, a 20-year-old musician, is good-looking and spirited, an irresistible combination that attracts 18-year-old Constantina. Their love affair is ecstasy … albeit brief. Under pressure from her family, Constantina decides to leave Nicolas without telling him she's pregnant. In an act of desperation, Nicolas sinks himself to the bottom of a river … but then resurfaces to pursue Constantina in a world unfamiliar to him.
