Nick Ashdon stars as influential Greek artist Doménikos Theotokópoulos -- better known by his nickname, El Greco -- in this stirring biopic from director Yannis Smaragdis. The film traces El Greco's rise from artist's apprentice to one of the 16th century's most commissioned painters. But it also documents the progressive Renaissance master's troubles with the Catholic Church and the Spanish Inquisition.
