In a French-occupied Swiss village where all the inhabitants have been forced to surrender their guns, lone rebel Marcus (John Barrymore) refuses to cooperate. He needs his firearm to protect his beloved Ciglia (Camilla Horn), though fate may doom their romance. Legendary director Ernst Lubitsch lends his signature touch to this overlooked silent masterpiece, which boasts a hugely magnetic turn by matinee idol Barrymore.
