The demise of the Hapsburgs of Austria-Hungary, the Romanovs of Russia and the Hohenzollerns of Germany is chronicled in this miniseries, which recounts how autocracy, social strife and World War I led to each family's downfall. The outstanding cast in this BBC production, set in Europe in the late 1800s, includes Patrick Stewart, John Rhys-Davies, Gemma Jones, Gayle Hunnicutt and Tom Conti. Michael Hordern narrates.
