After down-on-his-luck coffeehouse poet Jake Thompson (Jeff Stearns) catches the attention of publisher Marni Elliot (Tara D'Agostino) at a slam poetry contest, their business relationship soon teeters on the edge of romance. Jake must win a big-name poetry competition in L.A. to get a publishing deal but is up against Marni's ex (C. Thomas Howell), a fellow bard, making things more than just a little complicated. Fred Williard co-stars.
