This adaptation of Zane Grey's novel stars Gary Cooper as Clint Belmet, a Wild West-era scout with a knack for trouble. Fleeing a jail sentence, Clint recruits a French woman (Lili Damita) to pose as his wife and joins a California-bound wagon train. The journey gives Clint the opportunity to mature, as he takes the lead in the train and saves his fellow travelers from a murderous bandit (Fred Kohler). Tully Marshall and Ernest Torrence co-star.
