Slowly, inexorably, Ippo Makunocuhi transforms from a timid boy who makes an easy target for bullies to a brave boxer. In this edition, Ippo longs to join the Kamogawa Boxing Club, but the club's leader resists until he knows Ippo has the will to succeed. Ippo's training eventually culminates in a showdown with the talented Miyata. This action-packed anime series is based on a popular sports manga.
