A blind date leads to a relationship fraught with obsession and denial in Matteo Garrone's dark tale. When Sonia (Michela Cescon) meets Vittorio (Vitaliano Trevisan), Vittorio makes it perfectly clear that he desires a thinner woman, yet Sonia feels compelled to begin a relationship with the control freak. Sequestered in a remote house, the couple engages in a dangerous affair in which Vittorio imposes a cruel diet regime on masochistic Sonia.
