Working at a big-city newspaper, a goofball gofer (Joe E. Brown) spends his time hustling coffee for reporters and flirting with girls while dreaming of becoming a top journalist himself. His henpecked editor sends him on a fool's errand to interview a duke (Harry Davenport), but along the way, the rookie reporter falls in love with the crown princess (Helen Mack) and inadvertently gets tangled in an assassination plot.
