Floyd (Gene Hackman) is a man drowning emotionally because of the disappearance of his wife. Louise (Terri Garr) not only has her sights set on Floyd but is also committed to restoring Floyd's bar, the Blue Water Grill, to its former heyday. When greedy real estate agents try to buy the bar from Floyd, it's up to Louise to shake him out of his depression.
