An animated series based on the popular line of children's military dolls seems like an improbable recipe for success, but this G.I. Joe incarnation beat the odds. Season 2 begins with the introduction of new COBRA emperor Serpentor. Newer characters such as Beach-Head, Dr. Mindbender, the pacifist Lifeline and Zartan's siblings, Zandar and Zarana, are also introduced, and Gen. Hawk is brought to the forefront as the definitive G.I. Joe leader.
