Director Thorold Dickinson's 1940 version of the classic suspense thriller stars Diana Wynyard as Bella Mallen, a young bride who's slowly tormented by strange happenings in her home, the same home in which a stash of jewels is reportedly hidden. Anton Walbrook plays Bella's ostensibly devoted husband, who tends to his wife's increasingly fragile mental state with fiendish charm.
