Giuseppe Verdi's longest opera -- an epic that contains nearly four hours of music -- springs to life in this memorable performance recorded live at the Wiener Staatsoper in Vienna. Based on the dramatic play "Don Carlos Infante of Spain" by Friedrich Schiller, the story traces the romance between Don Carlos and Elisabeth, the beautiful daughter of the King of France, who learns she has been betrothed to Don Carlos's father, Phillip II.
