Gluck: Orphee et Eurydice

  (2000)
Director Robert Wilson applies an avant-garde eye to Christoph Willibald Gluck's opera "Orphee et Eurydice" in this visually striking staging backed by John Eliot Gardiner and the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique. Adapted from the Greek legend of Orpheus (Magdalena Kozena) and his ill-fated wife, Eurydice (Madeline Bender), the production also features soprano Patricia Petibon as L'Amour -- known to English-speaking audiences as Cupid.
