This gripping biopic tells the story of celebrated American Sam Houston (Sam Elliott) -- former governor of Tennessee and the first president of the short-lived Republic of Texas -- who presided over the Lone Star State during the Civil War and led its rebellion against Mexico. This made-for-TV movie also stars G.D. Spradlin as President Andrew Jackson and Richard Yniguez as Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.
