A marshal (Fred MacMurray) solves the murder of a town's previous sheriff, to the almost complete disinterest of the townspeople. Soon, he lands in even more hot water when a lawyer turns the townsfolk against him. To add a further wrinkle, most of the townsfolk also become convinced that the man jailed for the murder is innocent. Costars James Drury (of TV's "Virginian" fame), Denver Pyle and Robert Vaughn. Nathan Juran directs.
