This wildly successful 1970s spin-off of "Maude" made Jimmie Walker (with his ultimate catchphrase "Dyn-o-mite!") a household name, but the show was more than that. It was the saga of the Evans family, who lived in the Chicago ghetto and struggled to make ends meet, but were proud of who they were. It affected American culture by dealing with timely, lively issues from an African-American viewpoint and with insight and laughter.
