Eleven-year-old Obdulio (Mathias Acuña) forgoes school so he can sell newspapers in order to provide for his grandmother and two sisters. But when a magical night watchman (Jorge Esmoris) introduces him to the power of words, an amazed Obdulio vows to learn to read and write. Set in Uruguay's capital, Montevideo, this magical realism drama incorporates the country's vibrant Carnival celebrations and musical traditions.
