Great Expectations

Based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens, this BBC miniseries follows the adventures of the orphan boy Pip (Gerry Sundquist), who makes the acquaintance of an eccentric spinster (Joan Hickson) and becomes the playmate of her beautiful but cruel ward, Estella (Sarah-Jane Varley). As Pip's love for Estella grows, he vows to become a gentleman fit to marry her -- and a vast fortune left to him by an unknown benefactor just may help.
