After openly criticizing the Nazi regime during its rise to power, German-Jewish writer Kurt Tucholsky (Ulrich Noethen) is accused of treason and forced to flee to Switzerland. In this gripping drama, director Xavier Koller combines plot elements from Tucholsky's semi-autobiographical novel Castle Gripsholm with actual events from the author's life to present a comprehensive portrait of his experiences. Heike Makatsch and Marcus Thomas co-star.
