Set amidst the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Greece, director John Christian's 1953 melodrama centers on a passionate affair between Greek officer Demetri (Helmut Dantine) and a headstrong resistance fighter named Zaira (Marianna). When the rise of the communist party lands them on opposite sides, Demetri and Zaira find that their love transcends political allegiances and ultimately put their lives on the line in order to be together.
