While attempting to drink himself to death in Atlantic City, failed writer Jake (William Petersen) befriends small-time mobster Frankie (Michael Wincott). As Jake starts slipping into a life of crime, he finds himself falling in love with Frankie's beautiful girlfriend, Melissa (Diane Lane). Touching on themes of friendship, trust and redemption, this gangster film co-stars Michael Byrne, Eric Schaeffer and Meat Loaf.
