When dashing cavalryman Don José Novarro (Harry Liedtke) falls under the spell of alluring gypsy dancer and smuggler Carmen (Pola Negri), he leaves his post and his lover to be with the girl -- only to have her cast him aside for another man. Consumed with rage, Don José tracks Carmen down to exact revenge for her betrayal. Ernst Lubitsch directs this tragic drama; Leopold von Ledebur and Paul Conradi co-star.
