The greatest role in the English-speaking theater is tackled by one of its greatest actors. Richard Burton, at the height of his popularity, essays Shakespeare's melancholy Dane, backed by such Broadway greats as Hume Cronyn and William Redfield. John Gielgud co-directs and provides the voice of The Ghost. This production was filmed in "Electronovision" (an early process for transferring tape to 35mm film) at Manhattan's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
