Kevin Kline treads the boards as one of William Shakespeare's most memorable characters -- the melancholy, deep-thinking prince Hamlet -- opposite Dana Ivey as Gertrude in this PBS adaptation. Kline, alongside Kirk Browning, also directs this inspired version about royal family treachery and betrayal, refreshing the tale with modern-day costumes, tremendous intelligence and slightly less doom and gloom.
