A well-cast Rod Steiger stars as underhanded real-estate developer Edoardo Nottola in this searing 1963 exposé about the political corruption that led to the devastation of the civilian landscape in Naples, Italy. Directed by Francesco Rosi, the searing work of social commentary reveals the devious dealings of the city's power-hungry officials and their complete disregard for the needs of the people.
