After the death of his father, young Dane Hans Christian Andersen (Kieran Bew) journeys to Copenhagen, where affluent businessman Jonas Collin (James Fox) and his crippled daughter, Jette (Emily Hamilton), open their home and their hearts to him. Thanks to the patronage of Collin, Andersen's talents as a writer and imaginative storyteller begin to flourish in this made-for-TV biopic also starring Simon Callow as Charles Dickens.
