Mental patient Trevor "Lucky" O'Donnell has spent 7 years locked up and is only a few months away from his release. But when he learns that his childhood friend Eric is dying, Trevor escapes and convinces Eric to leave the hospital and go on one last adventure. Pursued by the police and family, the pals realize that time is short and soon rediscover the deep bonds of friendship.
