Douglass Montgomery stars as composer Stephen Foster in this 1935 biopic. As a young man, Foster pens some of America's most iconic tunes, such as "Camptown Races" and "Oh! Susanna," but the copyright laws of the time sabotage his future. Troubled by his growing inability to support his family financially, Foster turns to alcohol, a decision that costs him his wife (Evelyn Venable) and eventually, his own life. Joseph Santley directs.
