When brutal American criminal Don Starling (John Crawford) escapes from a British jail, Police Inspector Harry Martineau (Stanley Baker) suspects Starling will strike one final time in the grim working-class city of Manchester to retrieve a hidden stash of jewels. Martineau is correct, but soon, his hunch becomes a dangerous obsession as he descends ever deeper into Manchester's criminal underworld in pursuit of Starling. Val Guest directs.
