Heartbroken by his unrequited love, Hero Hiralal (Naseeruddin Shah) resolves to end his miserable life -- until publicist Rani Sitara Devi hears of his plight and proposes a scheme. In a last attempt to declare his love to actress Roopa (Sanjana Kapoor), Hero plans a public suicide, which Rani has arranged to be broadcast commercially. Forced by her parents to deny his love, Roopa now must be honest about her feelings before it's too late.
