Lonely middle-aged businessman Benjamin Hoffman (Peter Sellers) has been in love with secretary Janet Smith (Sinead Cusack) for years. After discovering some damaging information about her fiancé, Benjamin blackmails Janet into spending a week with him. But what began as a seemingly sinister ordeal slowly reveals itself to be an uncommon bond of tender yearnings, dark secrets and surprising realizations about the possibilities of love.
