When young American painter Charlotte (Mia Farrow) joins her father, Capt. Bruckner (Jason Robards), on the Samoan island he governs, she soon falls deeply in love with native chief Matangi (Dayton Ka'ne), incurring her dad's disapproval. Meanwhile, a massive looming storm threatens to devastate the island in this action-packed Dino De Laurentiis drama. Max von Sydow, Trevor Howard and Timothy Bottoms co-star.
