Jay (Mark Rylance) and Claire (Kerry Fox) are two strangers who meet once a week for an intense, wordless, frenzied sexual tryst. But when Jay's emotional needs prompt him to find out more about Claire, it's a move that could destroy both of their lives. Director Patrice Chéreau's searing drama, based on the controversial novel by Hanif Kureishi, won three awards at the Berlin International Film Festival.
