When ex-con Cliff Taylor (George Raft) has trouble landing a legit job on the outside, he returns to a life of crime with fellow felon Chuck Martin (Humphrey Bogart) to make enough cash to keep his younger brother Tim (William Holden) on the straight and narrow. But how long can he maintain the outlaw life before he's busted and sent back to the clink? Lloyd Bacon directs this hard-bitten drama that co-stars Jane Bryan.
